The Punjab Department of Transport vide its order dated 1st June 2020 has exempted the persons owning transport vehicles from the operation of a provision of section 8 which deals with offense and penalties and section 11-A which deals with payment of interest under the Punjab Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1924.
The above exemption is granted based on the condition that the owner of transport vehicles having taxes in arrears can pay the arrears of taxes within a month from June 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 and no penalty or interest shall be charged for the late payment and in case if the arrears are not paid off in the stipulated period, the arrears of tax along with penalty and interest will be charged in regards with the delay.
