Recognition of Three Nursing Colleges Revoked in MP

The Indian Nursing Council has issued orders to withdraw the recognition of three nursing colleges in Madhya Pradesh. These orders were all issued on November 28, 2023.

The orders pertain to the following institutions:

These nursing colleges had previously been recognized by the State Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council for conducting GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) & B.Sc(N) (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) courses.

However, the Indian Nursing Council issued notices to the Principal Secretary (Health &FW), Government of Madhya Pradesh for withdrawal of their recognition. A copy of this notice was also forwarded to the Nursing Colleges. The notice requested the State Government to submit their recommendations regarding the suitability of the nursing institution.

Despite the issuance of notices, neither the State Government of Madhya Pradesh nor the Nursing Colleges responded to the Indian Nursing Council.

After careful consideration and a thorough examination of the inspection reports, it has come to light that the institutions, are deficient in several aspects, particularly in clinical and teaching facilities.

As a consequence, the Indian Nursing Council has declared that effective from 23/02/2023, any person holding a recognized qualification of GNM & B.Sc(N) from these Nursing Colleges in Madhya Pradesh, shall be entitled to be registered only in the State of Madhya Pradesh. This is subject to the orders of the State Government of Madhya Pradesh.

The decision underscores the commitment of the Indian Nursing Council to uphold the standards of nursing education and ensure that institutions provide high-quality clinical and teaching facilities for students pursuing nursing courses. It also aims to protect the interests of nursing professionals and maintain the integrity of nursing education in the state.
