The fourth in a series of Regional Review Meetings on the National Ayush Mission (NAM) was held in Mumbai, bringing together officials and representatives from six States/Union Territories (UTs): Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu. This meeting was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways. The Union Minister of State for Ayush & Women and Child Development and Secretary of Ayush also graced the occasion.
The National Ayush Mission (NAM) stands as the flagship program of the Ministry of Ayush, and is being implemented with the vision and objectives to provide Ayush health care services throughout the country by strengthening and improving Ayush health care facilities, to provide informed choice to the needy public.
Highlighting the importance of making Ayush available to all, the Union Minister stressed the need for Integrative healthcare, where modern and traditional medicine systems work hand in hand to provide the best healthcare to the people.
Furthermore, the Union Minister of Ayush acknowledged the pivotal role played by the World Health Organization and the Government of India in promoting Traditional Medicine. He noted that the establishment of the Global Centre of Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat, has opened new opportunities for the growth of scientific and evidence-based Traditional Medicine systems in India. Through flagship programs like the National Ayush Mission, efforts are being made to ensure that the benefits of traditional medicine reach every corner of the country.
The Union Minister of State for Ayush & Women and Child Development also emphasized the importance of measuring outcomes as a meaningful gauge of program value, encouraging discussions among the attendees to learn from each other’s best practices and build strong bonds.
The Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, discussed the progress of the National Ayush Mission and the increased budgetary provisions, stating, “The Ministry has organized one-to-one review meetings with all States/UTs, where fruitful discussions were held.”
During the meeting, the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, presented an overview of Ayush’s progress and the roadmap for Ayush 2025.
The inaugural session concluded with a 5-minute Y-Break (Yoga Break) Common Yoga Protocol. Subsequently, an interactive session allowed Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andaman & Nicobar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu to present detailed overviews of their National Ayush Mission initiatives, facilitating knowledge sharing and discussions on the way forward.
