Food Safety Authorities Step Up Vigilance During Festive Season

The food safety authorities across the country are intensifying their efforts to prevent adulteration of sweets, savouries, milk, and milk products like ghee, khoya, and paneer. The authorities have intimated the general public of their intension to hold special surveillance drives during this festive season.

FSSAI Strengthens Measures to Remove Unsafe Food from Market

If a primary lab report finds a sample unsafe, the FSSAI directs Designated Officers (DOs) or Central Licensing Authorities (CLAs) must prohibit the Food Business Operator (FBO) from selling the unsafe food product, and must initiate food recall in specified cases. Such timely removal of unsafe food products is vital for safeguarding public health.

FSSAI Surveillance Drives Against Adulteration of Cinnamon with Cassia

Commissioners of Food Safety of States/UTs and the Central Licensing Authorities of FSSAI are urged to conduct a comprehensive market surveillance drive. The objective is to scrutinize the prevalence of malpractices, both in whole and powdered forms of these spices, in their respective jurisdictions.
