Pre-Ayurveda-Programme for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery Regulations

The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) program will be a seven-and-a-half-year course, including a two-year pre-Ayurveda program. The institutions will follow the Gurukulam model, focusing on traditional values and holistic education. All Ayurveda Gurukulams will be affiliated with the Central Sanskrit University. The number of Gurukulams will be determined based on population and regional needs.

National Exit Test (NExT) For Ayush Effective From 2021-2022 Batch

NExT will be mandatory for licensing and enrollment in State or National Registers after completing a one-year internship. The test is designed to evaluate practical skills through clinical case scenarios, images, and videos. Interns who have not completed their internship but have qualified in the NExT will be eligible to register in State or National registration boards only after completing their one-year internship.

Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani Colleges To Be Connected With AEBAS

These medical colleges and teaching hospitals will be required to implement a centralized Aadhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System to track the attendance of teaching staff, non-teaching staff, hospital staff, postgraduate students, and interns. The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) will have access to this data for analysis.

Ayurveda Practitioners Warned Against Misleading Cannabis Claims

The National Commission for Indian Medicine (NCISM) has emphasized that registered medical practitioners should refrain from promoting themselves as cannabis specialists. It also observed that these drugs are being falsely advertised and prescribed for various ailments on online platforms.

The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine has published the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (Minimum Essential Standards, Assessment and Rating for Undergraduate Siddha Colleges and Attached Teaching Hospitals) Regulations, 2024.
