Government Designates New Ports for Livestock Products Import

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has issued a notification amending the Schedule of the Livestock Importation Act, 1898, to designate three new locations—one international airport and two Inland Container Depots (ICDs)—as authorized entry points for specific livestock products.

This new order, which supersedes the previous 2012 regulations, mandates rigorous health, testing, and quarantine measures to safeguard the country’s livestock from infectious and contagious diseases.

India Bans All Imports from Pakistan Citing National Security

The Indian government has announced an immediate ban on the import of all goods originating from or exported by Pakistan. The notification explicitly prohibits both direct and indirect import, as well as the transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan, regardless of whether those goods were previously freely importable or otherwise permitted.
