NOTTO Publishes Hindi Booklet on Organ Donation Awareness

The National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, has launched an awareness campaign titled “Angdaan Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyan” (Organ Donation—Life-Saving Campaign). The campaign is distributing an informative booklet in Hindi focused on the process and significance of organ donation as a life-saving procedure.

NOTTO Revises COVID-19 Testing Guidelines for Organ Transplants

The National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) has issued revised national guidelines for COVID-19 testing requirements for both organ donation and transplantation, effective immediately from November 11, 2025. These guidelines, issued with the approval of the competent authority, are based on recommendations from NOTTO’s Apex technical committee.

Deferment of Specular Microscopy Requirement for Corneal Transplant Centres

The Central Government, through a notification dated November 6, 2025, has introduced the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Rules, 2025. The amendment makes a minor but notable change to Form 15 of the 2014 Rules, under the section dedicated to Corneal Transplantation Centres. In the second column of Form 15, against entry ‘C’, the word “Specular” has been replaced with the words and brackets “Specular (optional).”

Organ Transplant Insurance: NOTTO to Meet IRDAI to Address Donor Coverage Gaps

The National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), an agency operating under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is scheduled to meet with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) to address the significant shortage of comprehensive and affordable organ transplant insurance coverage in India. On the occasion of the 15th Indian Organ Donation Day, the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) has issued a comprehensive 10-point advisory to all States and Union Territories with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The advisory outlines a strategic roadmap aimed at significantly augmenting organ donation and transplantation activities across the country. This advisory was issued on August 2, 2025.
