The Central Motor Vehicles (Draft Amendment) Rules, 2021.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on 28th June 2021 has notified the Draft Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2021 which shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of thirty days from the date on which the copies of this notification as published in the Official Gazette, are made available to the public.

Through this draft amendment, the compatibility of vehicle to level of ethanol blend of E12 or E15 or E20 or E85 or E100 shall be defined by the vehicle manufacturer and the same shall be displayed on vehicle by putting a clearly visible sticker.

For the bi-Fuel vehicles, the Reference Gasoline fuel shall be as per E-10 or E12 or E15 as declared by the manufacturer during approval.

The newly manufactured gasoline vehicles fitted with spark ignition engine compatible to run on ethanol gasoline blends of E-12 and E-15 shall be type approved as per prevailing gasoline emission norms and the Vehicles manufacturer shall submit the vehicle to the Test Agencies referred under rule 126, for CMVR compliance.
