The Central Motor Vehicles Rules amended to prescribe new carbon emission limits for different vehicles

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued the Central Motor Vehicles (Twelfth Amendment) Rules, 2019 on 26th November, 2019, amending the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

Amendment is made to Rule 115 (2) which deals with emission of smoke and vapor from the vehicles. In the provision, clause (i), the table under the First Proviso is substituted. New carbon emission limits are prescribed for different category- 4/3/2 wheeler – of vehicles using liquefied Petroleum Gas, Compressed Natural Gas or Diesel.
