The Commercial tax department of Bihar on 13th April 2020 has extended the provisions of “The Bihar Settlement of Taxation Disputes Rules, 2019” for the period (three months) from April 15, 2020, to July 14, 2020.
The Bihar Settlement of Taxation Disputes Rules, 2019 has been enacted on December 12, 2019, for speedy and amicable settlement of taxation disputes. Any dispute pending under the law may, on an application being made in this behalf by a party, be settled upon payment of the settlement amount. Leniency is allowed in deciding settlement amount and it can be as low as 10% of the disputed amount of penalty or interest or the fine in some cases.
