The Government of A.P instructs buildings of educational institutions to ensure sustainable environmental management, waste management & rainwater harvesting

The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board(APPCB) has revised the instructions on building and construction projects issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The earlier circular dated 31st March 2008 stated that the construction projects which are not covered under Environmental Impact assessment notification 2006 shall not be covered under consent management system. However through this notification the above instruction has been revised as follows:

The industrial sheds, Schools, Colleges, Buildings of educational institutions including Universities need not obtain Consent for Establishment (CFE) and Consent for operation (CFO) from APPCB as they were exempted from the purview of Environmental Clearance. But, these buildings shall ensure sustainable environmental management, solid and liquid waste management, rainwater harvesting and may use recycled materials such as fly ash bricks.

In case of the Medical universities or institutes, the component of hospitals shall obtain CFE and CFO from APPCB, as they would continue to require prior Environmental Clearance from the concerned Authority.
