The State Government of Gujarat vide its notification dated 10th December 2020 has decided to institutionalize a central inspection system for license and users of weights and measures articles and to classify the weights and measure articles under legal metrology Act as high, medium and low risk in order to differentiate the inspection requirements based on risk profile.
The high risk category shall be inspected every year and medium category shall be inspected once in 2 years and the low risk category which contains the storage tank and water meter shall be inspected once in 5 years.
The inspection report shall be uploaded online on the relevant website within 48 hours of inspection.
