The government of Maharashtra extends the due date for filing a refund of voluntary deposit under MVAT

The government of Maharashtra vide its notification dated 1st July 2020 has published the Maharashtra value added tax (First Amendment) Rules, 2020 in which the government has extended the due date for filing application refund of voluntary deposit till 31st March 2021.

Under Rule 60A, any person or dealer who has obtained the voluntary registration may make an application to the registering authority for a refund of the amount of Rs. 25,000/- of security deposit and the registering authority shall, within ninety days from the receipt of the said application, refund the amount of security deposit if the dealer has filed all the returns due upto the date of application for refund of the security deposit, or upto the date of cancellation of registration certificate, and paid the tax due as per the said returns.

Earlier the application for a refund may be made on or before 31st March 2019 but through this notification, it has been extended till 31st March 2021.
