The Govt. of Goa has published the Goa Freedom Fighters Welfare (Amendment) Rules, 2022. These Rules were notified on 2nd March, 2023 and will be retrospectively effective from 19th December, 2022.
These Rules enhance the rate of Financial Assistance to the Goa Freedom Fighters and seek to amend the Goa Freedom Fighters Welfare Rules, 2013.
The Rules have increased the monthly state pension for the freedom fighters from Rs. 3500/- plus applicable Dearness Allowance to Rs. 9000/- plus applicable Dearness Allowance as per the Order dated 30-11-2016 under 7th Pay Commission.
The fixed monthly medical allowance paid to the freedom fighter or his/her spouse is enhanced from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 3000.
Additionally, the ad-hoc grant to meet the funeral rites of either freedom fighter or his/ her spouse has also been increased from Rs. 5000/- to Rs. 15000/-.
Freedom fighters may now be sanctioned a grant of Rs. 50000/- for the repair of their dwelling houses once in 10 years.
