A multi-sport event in India, under the support of the Union Government that aims to promote sports and fitness among the country’s youth. Khelo India Youth Games is scheduled to be held in four cities (Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy) from 19.01.2024 to 31.01.2024.
Athletics, Football, Boxing, Fencing, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Squash, Archery, Judo, Gatka, Table Tennis Badminton, Cycling, Kho-Kho, Yogasana,Wrestling, Hockey, Swimming, Gymnastics, Tennis, Shooting, Kalaripayattu, Mallakhamb, Basketball, Thang Ta, Kabadi, Silambam (Demo Game) will be showcased with utmost excellence and enthusiasm.
Tamil Nadu is set to feature in the team games for Basketball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Hockey and Football. Athletes, both male and female, will be chosen to represent Tamil Nadu based on their exceptional performance. About 5000 athletes are expected to participate in these competitions. Selected athletes will receive training from Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu to enhance their skills. To be eligible for participation, athletes must be born on or after 1st January 2005. The age verification process requires the submission of either Aadhaar Card or Passport, Matriculate Certificate (SSLC/X Std), or a Birth Certificate issued at least five years ago, on or before January 1, 2013, by the Municipal Corporation or Gram Panchayat.
