The University Grants Commission vide circular dated 27th January, 2023, to achieve the objective of NllP 2020. HEls are requested to harness their huge potential & resources to contribute in achievement of 100% of literacy & execute the following academic mandates:
- All universities with Departments/ Centers of Adult Education/ Continuing Education/ Lifelong Learning/ Extension contrary include mandatory teaching of at least 5 or above non-literates by students in every academic year in their course work as a project or assignment for completion of their degree.
- All other organization/ institution under UGC offering Under-Graduate or Post-Graduate and other higher academic courses may include certain credits for the activity. The credits may be given after the learners under them to get ‘literate certificate.
- A provision for issuing certificates to such volunteers from University/State Government can be made to encourage students.
- Students can be trained by the Universities/HEIs to carry out the activities as per the guidelines of NILP.
