95% of Agra hosps don’t follow fire safety norms

Agra: It’s not just schools and colleges that have blatantly flouted fire safety norms in the city. Hospitals, residential and commercial buildings in the city have been found guilty as well as data gleaned from the fire department reveal that only 12 of nearly 250 hospitals here have got their NOC (no objection certificate) in the last five years.

Owners or builders are expected to approach the fire department for certification of their compliance with fire safety guidelines. But buck passing among government departments has resulted in slipshod scrutiny.

Interestingly, Samparan blood test and unit bank, where a massive fire had broken out in its precinct last year, is one such medical facility that is yet to apply for a fire certificate.
