In a significant move to improve the efficiency, transparency, and traceability of commodity storage across India, the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) has expanded the list of agricultural and non-agricultural commodities that must be stored in registered warehouses.
The move is expected to enhance warehousing standards and integrate more commodities under regulated storage, ensuring quality control, standardization, and better price realization for farmers and traders alike.
✅ Legal Backing:
This notification is issued under:
- Section 35(2)(p) of the Warehousing (Development and Regulation) Act, 2007
- Rule 4(1A) and Rule 25(a) of the Warehousing (Development and Regulation) Registration of Warehouses Rules, 2017

Where these standards don’t exist, quality norms laid down by:
- Central or State Governments or other recognized authorities will apply.
Authorized Laboratories for testing include:
- AGMARK labs
- NABL-accredited labs
- BIS-recognized labs
- FSSAI labs
- Government and other notified labs
This notification is a part of WDRA’s ongoing reforms to integrate warehousing with modern supply chains, support the National Agriculture Market (eNAM), and foster trust in the agri-logistics ecosystem.
