The Board of Practical Training (BOPT), Eastern Region, has issued a formal notice to all establishments and stakeholders of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) confirming the continuation of the Central Government’s existing share of stipend for apprentices under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
What’s the Update?
The Government of India announced a revision in the stipend rates for Graduate and Technician apprentices, effective from the same date. However, despite the hike, the Ministry of Education has clarified that the existing Central share of the stipend will remain unchanged until further orders.
Current Central Govt. Share of Stipend:
- 🎓 Graduate Apprentices: ₹4,500 per month
- 🛠️ Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: ₹4,000 per month
This share applies to the full month of training and will continue to be disbursed directly to apprentices through the DBT system.
Key Highlights:
- 🗓️ As per Gazette Notification dated 9th September 2025, stipend rates have increased.
- 💰 However, Central Govt. will continue its existing contribution—₹4500 for Graduates and ₹4000 for Technicians—until further notice.
- 📢 All establishments enrolled under NATS are advised to take note and comply accordingly.
- 🔄 This continuation ensures uninterrupted stipend flow under the DBT system, benefiting both apprentices and training establishments.
Why It Matters
The continuation of the Central Government’s contribution is a significant relief for both apprentices and employers, as it ensures financial support remains consistent during the transitional period following the stipend hike. It also provides clarity to establishments managing apprenticeship programs under NATS, allowing them to budget and process claims without disruption.
This measure reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to support skill development and practical training for youth across the country.
