BIS Establishes New Standards and Schedules Withdrawal of Older Versions Across IT, Footwear, Pollution Monitoring, Chemicals & Machinery Safety

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has released an extensive notification announcing the establishment of new Indian Standards across key sectors including information technology, footwear, air pollution monitoring, chemicals, lifting machinery, electrical systems, and safety of industrial machinery.

Issued under Rule 15(1) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, the notification also specifies older standards that will continue concurrently until their scheduled withdrawal on 15 April 2026, allowing industries sufficient transition time.

All newly established standards carry an effective date of 15 October 2025.
