BBMP officials went on a fining spree on bulk generators who were not segregating waste at source. Subodh Yadav, special commissioner (solid waste management) of the BBMP and his team fined 10 major traders including Apollo hospital and Cafe Coffee Day in BTM Layout for not following municipal solid waste rules.
Around Rs 2.25 lakh has been collected in fines and Apollo hospital and Kritunga restaurant have been fined Rs 25,000 each. According to deputy health officer (south zone) Dr Bhagyalakshmi Apollo hospital is being fined for not maintaining medical waste properly.
