Bar Code / QR Code at primary level packaging

In a notification issued by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Pharmaceuticals, a new para has been inserted by partially modifying the formerly issued order, “Public Pronouncement (Preference to make in India), Order, 2017” .

It states that, from 1^st April, 2019, the medicines procured under Public Procurement must posses Bar Code / QR Code at primary level packaging.

This Code must compulsorily contain the following:

1. Name of the product including strength brand name (if there is any),
2. MRP,
3. Name and address of the Manufacturer,
4. Batch Number,
5. Manufacturing date,
6. Expiry date,
7. Special storage conditions required (if any) and
8. Manufacturing license number.
