The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways vide notification dated 18th August, 2022 has issued the Central Motor Vehicles (Thirteenth Amendment) Rules, 2022. As per the rules the license plate of a vehicle shall be displayed both at the front and at the rear of all motor vehicles clearly and legibly in the form of security license plate.
The amendment provides that the licence plates for a vehicle shall be issued by the registering authority or approved the licence plates manufacturers or their dealers approved by the State Government or Union Territory Administration.
The amendment shall come into effect immediately.
