Chhattisgarh government initiates action against 13 private hospitals for allegedly failing to provide facilities

RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh government has taken action against 13 private hospitals across the state for alleged failure to provide proper facilities to patients under the health insurance schemes.

Director Health Services, R Prasanna decided to take action against the erring hospitals during a review meeting of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (National Health Insurance Scheme) and Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojna yesterday, a Health Department official said here today.

The registration of three hospitals of Durg district — Suraj Nursing Home, Sahyog Hospital and Pragya Hospital for conducting treatment under these schemes, were cancelled while three other hospitals — Arogya Hospital of Raipur district and Parakh Nursing Home and Rajnandgaon Medicity Hospital of Rajnandgaon district, will face three-month suspension for providing treatment facilities under the schemes.

Besides, notices have been issued to seven hospitals namely Suvidha Multispeciality Hospital, Twin Speciality Hospital, City Care Hospital and Diagnostic, BM Shah Hospital of Durg, Roop Jivan Hospital andChhattisgarh Hospital and Research Center of Raipur and Chatterjee Hospital of Dhamtari district, he said.

Earlier, complaints were received against these hospitals regarding shortage of eligible doctors, unavailability of doctors, charging money from patients under the insurance schemes and others following which show cause notices were issued to them, he said.

After receiving their responses, Chief Medical and Health Officers as well as other officials concerned recommended action against these hospitals, he added.
