Covid-19 Public Advisory and Precautionary Measures in Karnataka

The Commissioner of Health & Family Welfare Services, issued an advisory note on 17th January, 2024 for the general public regarding the Covid-19 situation in the state of Karnataka.  This advisory is a result of the recommendations of the Covid-19 State Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and is a continuation of a previous advisory issued on 18th December, 2023.

The advisory underscores the need for specific groups, including the elderly and those with comorbidities, to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses and Covid-19. It advises them to monitor their health closely and seek testing at the nearest healthcare facility if they develop symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) or Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). If tested positive, they are urged to seek necessary treatment at a healthcare facility and cooperate with healthcare professionals for thorough clinical evaluation and medical consultation. The advisory also highlights the importance of family members cooperating with doctors and staff visiting Covid-19 patients under home isolation, emphasizing the testing of symptomatic close contacts and adherence to medical advice for the well-being of the patients and the public at large.

Furthermore, it also provides designated contact information for general Covid-related inquiries and emphasizes the compliance of the advisory by the public. The note also provides for the various authorities for disseminating the advisory effectively. The advisory is issued with the overarching objective of ensuring that the general public is well-informed about the precautionary measures for Covid-19 to be followed during this time and to abide by the standard Covid protocols and guidelines issued by the State Government.
