Ujjain : The only Computed Tomography (CT) Scan machine at Divisional Civil Hospital hasn’t been working since last year, causing severe inconvenience to patients there.

The hospital is the only full-fledged government medical centre in division. Hospital authorities said the provider company has denied giving report printer, without getting money first. Without printer the machine is lying idle. A hospital staff member said the cost of a CT scan varies from Rs 2000-Rs 6000 depending on the patient’s condition and it usually takes at least two days to get an appointment for a CT scan after filling the form at the Hospital.

Many patients at the hospital are thus being inconvenienced. Civil Surgeon Dr DPS Gaharwar said the money was yet to be issued by the state government. We have already sent the proposal to the government. Speaking about the problem another doctor at the hospital explained that the machine had been out of order due to heat and electricity problem, earlier. Also the machine provided to the biggest public hospital of the division is 12 years old and was transferred from Bhanpura hospital to here.
