DGFT issues clarification on export of policy rice.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade on 4th October 2022, in suppression to its earlier trade notice dated 28th November 2022, has clarified that in respect of normal rice that “Rice (5% and 25%) is already exempted as it is not broken rice but normal rice with permissible limits of broken rice as per standards, however it shall carry 20% duty as per the notification.

Earlier DGFT banned the export of broken rice, however, representations were received regarding rice (5% and 25%) where irrevocable letters of credit have been issued before September 8, 2022, are also being stopped at the ports.
