The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India in a letter dated, 13th May 2019 decided to allow endorsement of Fortified Foods (+F) in FSSAI License through online Food Licensing and Registration System (FLRS} for FBOs manufacturing/ processing products under the following categories:
- Milk Food Product Category – 01
- Rice, Wheat Flour and Maida Food Product Category – 06
- Salt Food Product Category — 12
- Oil Food Product Category – 02
For the substantiation of the fortification claim the FBO, while making application for endorsement of the fortified food in FSSAI License, are required to upload commodity test reports from FSSAI notified NABL labs.
Endorsement Certificate of the fortified foods which is used to validate FSSAI License will be auto-generated. In case of FBOs who have already applied for endorsement of fortified products would have to reapply and upload the commodity test reports for food product (fortified). The licensing authorities have been directed to perform random checks on the fortified food product endorsements and intimate the concerned FBO, in case of any anomaly.
