The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a notification amending its master list of recognized laboratories, affecting facilities in the Northern, Western, Southern, and Eastern regions. The amendment was dated October 31, 2025.
This action involves the deletion of several outdated entries and the insertion of new laboratory accreditations, ensuring that the official list of food testing infrastructure is current and accurate for regulatory purposes.
Regional Updates to Laboratories
The amendment modifies the table originally published in the Gazette of India on December 6, 2016, with the following key changes across regions:
- Northern Region: Several entries are deleted under Delhi and Rajasthan, while a new entry is inserted under Uttar Pradesh.
- Deletions: Two laboratories in Delhi (at serial number 10 and 21) and one in Rajasthan (at serial number 7) are deleted.
- New Entry (Uttar Pradesh): QC Lab, Shriram Food & Pharma Research Centre (Reg. No. 89/N/FSSAI/2025) in Ghaziabad is added with Biological and Chemical scope of accreditation.
- Western Region (Maharashtra): Three new entries are inserted into the list for Maharashtra:
- Eurofins Analytical Services India Pvt. Ltd. (Reg. No. 76/W/FSSAI/2025) in Navi Mumbai is added with Biological and Chemical scope.
- QSS Inspection and Testing Private Limited (Reg. No. 77/W/FSSAI/2025) in Navi Mumbai is added with Biological and Chemical scope.
- Chemo Test Laboratory (Reg. No. 78/W/FSSAI/2025) in Mumbai is added with Biological and Chemical scope.
- Southern Region: Deletions are made in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, and new entries are added in Kerala, along with an update in Karnataka.
- Deletions: One laboratory entry is deleted under Andhra Pradesh (at serial number 7) and one under Kerala (at serial number 5). The entry at serial number 13 under Tamil Nadu is also deleted.
- Karnataka Substitution: The entry for the Environmental Laboratory (Unit of Mineral Engineering Services LLP) is substituted, clarifying its current registration number (Reg. No. 35/S/FSSAI/2016) and retaining both Biological and Chemical scopes of accreditation.
- New Entries (Kerala): ECO Green Labs India Private Limited (Reg. No. 93/S/FSSAI/2025) is added with Biological and Chemical scopes, and the Testing and Analysis Laboratory, CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST) (Reg. No. 94/S/FSSAI/2025) in Thiruvananthapuram is added with a Chemical scope.
- Eastern Region: Additions are made in Assam, Bihar, and West Bengal.
- New Entry (Assam): TLABS, Tea Research Association, Tocklai Tea Research Institute (Reg. No. 30/E/FSSAI/2025) in Jorhat is added with a Chemical scope.
- Bihar Substitution: The entry for the National Food Laboratory Kolkata (Extension Center Raxaul) is substituted, confirming its location in Bihar and its Chemical scope.
- New Entry (West Bengal): Eureka Analytical Services Private Limited (Reg. No. 31/E/FSSAI/2025) in Kolkata is added with a Chemical scope.
