The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an Office Order assigning additional responsibilities for processing review applications concerning rejected imported food consignments in the Eastern Region.
The order, dated October 30, 2025, was issued by the Trade and International Cooperation Division in partial modification of the existing structure, following a personnel change in the Eastern Regional Office (ERO).
Assignment of Additional Charge
Consequent upon the repatriation of Col. Sujay Kumar, the former Regional Director (RD) of the Eastern Regional Office, the FSSAI has exercised its powers under Regulation 15 read with Regulation 2(u) of the Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulations, 2017.
The Regional Director, Southern Regional Office (SRO), FSSAI, has been assigned the additional charge as the Review Officer for the Eastern Region.
The SRO Review Officer will handle review applications from all points of entry (POEs) pertaining to both the Eastern Regional Office and the Southern Regional Office.
The order instructs all stakeholders and relevant authorities, including the Joint Secretary (Customs) in CBIC, to ensure compliance with this new arrangement until further notice.
