Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has vide letter dated 1st July, 2019 launched a special drive for licensing and registration of food businesses and directed the commissioners of food safety and licensing authorities to use it for enforcement of Non or wrong registration/License. The letter dated 4 October, 2019 has directed the authorities for enforcement of special drive for licensing from October 1, 2019.
The primary focus of the drive should be on FBOs conducting business with wrong license or expired license, without license, or manufacturing products not endorsed in the license. The drive will also focus on recovery of penalty levied but unpaid.
The scheme also launches food product identity verification system to verify the standard of food products and ‘know your FSSAI License’ website to check validity of license, for convenience of FBOs.
