The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has announced an extension of the provisional enrolment validity for 63 Non-Food Production (NFP) Units involved in the collection of Used Cooking Oil (UCO) from Food Business Operators. The validity for these units, listed in Annexure I, has been extended until July 31, 2026.
This extension is subject to an inspection of the units or until a formal registration mechanism is devised in the respective State/Union Territory. The move aligns with Clause (xiv) of the Gazette Notification dated April 30, 2019, issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for Biodiesel manufacturing.
The FSSAI has stated that all extended NFP Units must adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), orders, and guidelines issued by the FSSAI from time to time. The FSSAI also reserves the right to cancel the enrolment of any NFP Unit in the event of non-compliance with these regulations, submission of false information, or based on the findings of an inspection.
