The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide its notification dated 26th June 2020 has extended time for compliance with Food Safety and Standards (Recovery and Distribution of Surplus Food) Regulation till 1st January 2021.
As per the regulation, the surplus food distribution organization shall comply with food hygiene measures in accordance with the provisions of Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Business) Regulation 2017, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the surplus distributors and food business are finding it difficult to develop their food safety management system.
Therefore considering the difficulty faced by food business operators, FSSAI has decided to further extend the compliance timeline till 1st January 2021.
