The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued an Order dated 2 December 2025, announcing a partial modification to the composition of its Scientific Panels (SPs) and Scientific Committee (SC).
Specifically, this order supersedes earlier orders (dated 24 February 2023, 18 September 2023, and 8 April 2025) concerning the Scientific Panel on Genetically Modified Organisms and Foods (SP-04).
The revised composition of the Scientific Panel on Genetically Modified Organisms and Foods (SP-04) now includes 9 members, all of whom hold significant scientific positions:
- Dr. Sudip Ghosh, Scientist F, ICMR – National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad.
- Dr. Alok K Sinha, Staff Scientist VII, NIPGR, New Delhi.
- Dr. Srinivas Kiran Ambatipudi, Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.
- Dr. Annie Abraham, Retired Professor, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.
- Dr. Gurinderjit Randhawa, Retired Principal Scientist, National Bureau of Plant Genomic Resources, New Delhi.
- Dr. Naveen Arora, Retired Chief Scientist, CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, New Delhi.
- Dr. Pradhyumna Kumar Singh, Chief Scientist, CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow.
- Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Senior Scientist, CSIR – Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, Palampur.
- Prof. N. Raghuram, Head, Centre for Sustainable Nitrogen & Nutrient management, GGS Indraprastha University, New Delhi.
This revision ensures that the panel responsible for evaluating genetically modified organisms and foods has an updated membership with experts from various relevant scientific institutions.
