Govt. of Kerala mandates Registration of Infertility Clinics

The Government of Kerala has issued a notification mandating the registration of infertility clinics. This notification was issued on 31st January, 2023.

The notification states that registration is mandatory for private/government institutions to provide infertility treatment. Those institutions providing reproductive infertility services should take steps for immediate registration of their institutions. These institutions include clinics, centres, laboratories, genetic counselling centres, ART Banks and institutions handling human gametes and embryos for surrogacy.

The State Appropriate Authority has started giving registration to Level 1, Level 2 (ART Clinics), and Surrogacy Clinics in the state that meets the criteria as per the Union Government guidelines.

All relevant institutions shall get themselves registered through the National ART and Surrogacy Portal. The prescribed registration fee would be payable to the specified account in the name of the Appointed Authority. The fee can be paid online or in person.

Upon registration, the issued certificate of registration must be displayed conspicuously in the premises of the institution. Failure to comply with these requirements may lead to cancellation of the registration of the institution.
