Honoring the Contributions of Science Educators to Tamil Nadu

Science educators play a pivotal role in molding the intellects of students and nurturing a passion for science and education. Recognizing the invaluable contributions made by science educators in shaping the futures of students pursuing science, the Government established the Excellence in Science Teaching Award via the Science City in 2018. This Notification was published on 11.03.2024.

Science City received completed applications for the period of 2022-2023 from science educators employed in Government/Government Aided Schools at both High School and Higher Secondary School levels in Tamil Nadu. Two science educators were chosen as recipients of the Excellence in Science Teaching Award for the 2022-2023 academic year. The Excellence in Science Teaching Award for 2022-2023 was presented by the Honorable Minister of Higher Education & Backward Classes Welfare, in the presence of the Principal Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department, and the Principal Secretary/Vice Chairman of Science City, on the date of March 11, 2024, at the Secretariat.

The awardees are as follows: Ms. S.R. Bindu, Postgraduate Teacher, Government Higher Secondary School, Kanyakumari District, in the field of Physics. Ms. S. Sangeetha, Graduate Teacher, Government Higher Secondary School, Madurai District, in the field of Biology. The recipients of the Excellence in Science Teaching Award were presented with a monetary award of 25,000/- (Twenty-five thousand rupees only) in the form of a cheque and a certificate, by the Honorable Minister of Higher Education & Backward Classes Welfare.
