The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India vide its notification dated 5th May 2021 has published the Guidelines for a Standard Domestic Travel insurance policy to be known as “Bharat Yatra Suraksha”
Every General and Stand-alone Health Insurer, who has been issued a Certificate of Registration to transact General and/or Health Insurance Business, shall endeavour to offer this Standard Domestic Travel Insurance Product.
There are 5 plans under this product and the Standard product may be distributed across all distribution channels including Point of Sale persons and Common Public Service Centres but must necessarily be offered through online channel by all insurers.
There shall be only single premium payment and it shall be collected in advance and the Standard domestic travel insurance product may be offered on Individual & Group basis. When offered as a family cover, the chosen sum insured shall apply to each family member separately.
All General and Health Insurers shall endeavour to offer this product from 01st July, 2021 onwards.
