MCA releases information on extension of DIR-3 KYC filing

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has issued a circular dated 27th June, 2019 regarding filing of DIR-3 KYC. The Circular provides information on proposed changes. It has been released as an advisory to stakeholders to plan the filing accordingly.

In accordance with Rule 12A of the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014, all Director’s holding DIN as on 31st March, are required to file DIR-3 KYC. The original date of filing the form was 30th April, which was extended till 30th June by a notification dated 30th April, 2019.

Several representations from stakeholders were made regarding difficulties in filing e-form DIR-3 KYC and extension for filing was requested.

Following changes have been proposed by MCA:

  1. Every person who has already filed DIR-3 KYC will only be required to complete his/her KYC through a simple web-based verification service, with pre-filled data based on the records in the registry.
  2. To update mobile no. or e-mail address, e-form DIR-3 KYC will be required to filed as updation of these details will not be available in proposed web-based service.
  3. For updation in any other personal detail, e-form DIR-6 may be filed before completion of KYC through the web-based service.

Amendment related to extension of time for completion of KYC through e-form DIR-3 KYC or the web-based service, as the case may be, will be notified shortly.
