Ministry of Home Affairs bars travel by overseas citizens of India

The Ministry of Home Affairs in its press release dated 5th May 2020 has issued an order specifying that all existing visas granted to foreigners except to those belonging to diplomatic, official, UN/international organizations, employment and project categories, shall be suspended until the ban on international air travel to and from India is lifted.

Further, the ministry has also stated that it has kept in abeyance multiple entry-life long visas given to overseas citizens of India cardholders till international travel remains suspended.

Any foreign national holding an OCI card who intends to travel to India for compelling reasons during this period would have to contact the nearest Indian Mission.

However, in case of persons holding OCI card who are already in India, the OCI card shall remain valid for their stay in India for any length of time.
