Ministry of Home Affairs permits shops selling non-essential goods to open during lockdown

The Ministry of Home Affairs in its order dated 24th April 2020 has revised the lockdown guidelines by allowing registered shops and establishments to remain open subject to specific conditions.

The Following commercial establishments are permitted to operate during lockdown:

All shops registered under State/ UT specific Shops and Establishments Act including those in residential and market complexes, except shops in multi-brand and single brand malls, outside the limits of municipalities and town councils, with 50% strength of workers wearing masks and complying with social distancing norms. 

All shops, including neighborhood shops and stand-alone shops, shops in residential complexes, within the limits of municipalities and town councils, except shops in market complexes and multi-brand and single brand malls shall operate with 50% strength of workers wearing of masks and complying with social distancing norms. 

These revised guidelines are applicable to non-hotspot areas and non-containment zones. Hotspots and containment zones will continue to follow the restrictions.
