The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI), has launched a new Medical Application Portal for laboratories seeking accreditation under ISO 15189:2022. The new online portal was unveiled at a virtual event called “GOING LIVE,” representing a major step toward enhancing ease, efficiency, and transparency in the accreditation process.
The portal was designed to mirror the real-world operations of medical laboratories and offers a streamlined application process with a better user experience. According to QCI Chairman, tasks that once took weeks or months can now be completed in just two to three hours.
The platform introduces several key enhancements:
- A restructured application flow and standardized templates.
- A comprehensive checklist to guide applicants before they begin the process.
- Laboratories can assign multiple users with different access rights, which is expected to enhance oversight and accountability.
- The new system is designed to significantly reduce the time required to complete the accreditation process.
NABL Chairperson stated that the portal is a “transformational step” towards making the accreditation process more transparent and efficient. This initiative is expected to benefit hundreds of medical laboratories across India by providing a digital platform for accreditation under ISO 15189:2022. The NABL plans to extend this approach to other sectors to embed technology-driven efficiency and innovation across India’s quality journey.
