The Governor of Punjab has exempted industrial establishments of Punjab engaged in continuous process industry from the provisions of the Punjab Industrial Establishment (National and Festival Holidays and Casual and Sick Leave) Act, 1965. The Notification was issued on 6th August 2020.
The exemption is applicable to all industrial establishments in Punjab that are engaged in a continuous process industry.
The said Act provides for the grant of National and Festival Holidays and Casual and Sick Leave to persons employed in Industrial Establishments in the State of Punjab. By exempting the industrial establishments engaged in a continuous process industry from the purview of this Act, the Punjab Government has allowed these industries to decide their holiday requirements as per their own discretion.
