The Punjab Pollution Control Board vide its notification dated 21st August 2020 has revised the procedure and documentation for obtaining one-time authorization from the board under Rule 13 of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 by the trades who indent to import other waste listed in part-D of Schedule-III.
The one-time authorization shall be granted for a specified quantity of waste and not in terms of per month and when this specified quantity of waste is imported then the online authorization shall come to an end and The validity of one-time authorization shall be for a period of 18 months or till the specified quantity of waste is imported, whichever is earlier.
All the authorization granted before 31st January 2019 shall be deemed to have been cancelled and the authorization granted after 31st January 2019 shall be considered as expired after the completion of 18 months from the date of issue of such authorization.
Further, if there is a violation of conditions, PPCB may suspend or cancel such authorization after giving an opportunity of hearing and after recording the reasons thereof.
