The GST Council in its 36 th Meeting held on July 27, 2019, proposed following changes in the GST Act which shall be effective from August 1, 2019:
i. On the following goods and services GST rates are varied:
a. Electric vehicles will now be charged as the rate of 5% as against the
12% in present.
b. Charger or charging stations for Electric vehicles will be charged at the
rate of 5% as against 18% in present.
c. Hiring of electric buses by local authorities will be exempted from GST.
ii. Last date for filing Form GST CMP-02 has been extended upto September 30, 2019.
iii. Last date of furnishing Form GST CMP-08 for the quarter April, 2019 to June 2019, has been extended upto August 31, 2019.
