Recruitment Rules for the post of Joint Director, Industrial Safety and Health, Class I in the Gujarat Industrial Safety and Health Service

The Governor of Gujarat issued a notification on 23rd November, 2023, introducing the Recruitment Rules for the post of Joint Director, Industrial Safety and Health, Class I in the Gujarat Industrial Safety and Health Service. These rules outline the procedures for the appointment of officers to this position. 

The appointment can be made through promotion or direct selection. For promotion, candidates must meet certain criteria, including having at least five years of experience as Deputy Director, Industrial Safety and Health, Class I, passing departmental and computer knowledge examinations, and fulfilling the requirements of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules. In cases where a suitable candidate with the necessary experience is not available, the appointing authority may promote someone with a minimum of two-thirds of the required experience. 

Direct selection candidates must meet the age of 43 years. Minimum educational qualification shall be of second class degree in Bachelor’s of Engineering/Technology in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Chemical Engineering obtained from any of the Recognized  Universities under the UGC Act, 1956. In terms of  experience requirements the person shall have eight years’ experience of working in the Gujarat Industrial Safety and Health Service, on the post not below the rank of Assistant Director, Class II. Additionally, they must possess computer application knowledge, proficiency in Gujarati or Hindi, and pass various examinations and training programs. Candidates selected by direction selection shall be on a probation for a period of two years and shall pass the post-training examination in accordance with Gazetted Officer’s Pre-Service Training and Examination Rules, 1970, Civil Services Computer Competency Training and Examination Rules, 2006 and  examination in Hindi or Gujarati or both.

Finally, all appointed candidates, whether through promotion or direct selection, must undergo further training and examinations as determined by the government and provide a security and surety bond as prescribed.
