Government Extends Deadline for Filing E-Waste Returns

The MoEF&CC has now extended the deadline for registered entities to file quarterly and annual returns on their e-waste management activities. The last date for filing these reports for the 2023-2024 financial year is extended to June 30, 2024.

E-Waste (Management) Second Amendment Rules, 2023

Incorporating crucial amendments to the existing E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, the newly introduced provisions highlight the importance of adopting approved destruction technologies for managing refrigerants. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) will issue guidelines to oversee the proper implementation of these technologies.

Recyclers must Generate EPR Certificates through EPR Portal

Recyclers who handle electronic waste are now mandated to maintain records of sales and purchases of different recovered materials and e-waste through invoices linked to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system. These records are essential for generating the EPR Certificate on the EPR Portal. In order to comply with this requirement, recyclers must adopt e-invoices through the GST Portal for the sale and purchase of various recovered materials and e-waste.
