The Ministry of Labour and employment vide notification dated 24th January 2020 has declared that the services of the industries engaged in manufacturing of alumina and aluminium and mining of bauxite, which is covered under Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, to be a public utility service.
The Central Government has lastly declared the said industries to be public utility services for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months from 24th July 2019 to 24th January 2019. However, the Ministry has now further extended the period for another six months with effect from January 24, 2020, in public interest.
