The State Pollution Control Boards extends validity of consent to operate for reducing burden of lockdown

The Pollution Control Boards across the states in India, as it has not been possible to apply and to process some applications for renewal of consent to operate and authorization consequent upon the outbreak of Corona Virus (COVID-19) and subsequent declaration of lockdown, has issued notifications extending for all industrial units validity period of Consent to Operate given under following rules:

  • Water (PCP) Act, 1974
  • Air (PCP) Act, 1981
  • Hazardous and other Waste (management& Transboundary Movemen)t Rule 2016.
  • Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016
  • Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016

Tamil Nadu PCB has extended the validity period of consent to all units that authorized to operate upto 30th June, 2020. Orissa PCB has extended same to all units, who have valid consent to operate up to 31st March, 2020, and have applied to the Board for renewal of Consent to Operate. The PCBs of states like Goa, Punjab etc. have also ordered similar extension. The extension is generally given for a period of 3 months.
