The Government of Bihar has revised the date of the Diwali holiday under the Negotiable Instruments (N.I.) Act. The earlier declared holiday on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, has now been preponed to Monday, October 20, 2025.
The change comes following a recommendation from Government Sanskrit College, Kazipuram, Patna (Letter No. 117/24 dated 26.07.2024), which clarified that Diwali will be celebrated on October 20, not October 22 as previously listed.
As per the revised order:
- The Diwali holiday under the N.I. Act will now be observed on October 20, 2025 (Monday).
- The previously declared holiday on October 22, 2025 (Wednesday) stands cancelled.
- Serial No. 15 of Schedule 3 in the General Administration Department’s earlier holiday notification (No. 03/H-01/2024 SA-15764 dated 01.10.2024) has been amended accordingly.
This decision ensures public observance aligns accurately with the actual date of the Diwali festival in 2025.
