Uttar Pradesh Revises Minimum Wages for Hotel and Restaurant Industry from October 2025

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has issued a notification revising the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) and minimum wages for employees working in the hotel and restaurant industry, effective from 1st October 2025 to 31st March 2026.

This revision is made under the provisions of the Government Order No. 513/36-1-2016-1075 (ST)/85, dated 18 April 2016, which mandates half-yearly adjustments in wages based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Basis of Revision

The adjustment is calculated using the average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the period January 2025 to June 2025, which stood at 414 points (base 2001 = 100), compared to 239 points in the base year.

Implementation Period

The revised wage structure will remain effective from October 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026. After this period, wages will be reviewed again based on the next CPI average for July–December 2025, as per the state’s biannual revision system.
